From a very early age music has been intertwined in Tammy Larson's life. Her mother used to sing to her, when she was a baby, to get her to fall asleep.
The calm, smooth sound of her mother's voice seemed to always do the trick.
Even before she could walk, a little tune could often be heard escaping her lips. As she grew up around the farm, sometimes her kittens, dogs, cows, and
chickens would receive impromptu concerts from her.
Everywhere she went, music seemed to follow Tammy - from the farms of Missouri to the sandhills of Nebraska to the corn fields of southern Illinois.
A lover of the outdoors, Tammy was as comfortable swimming in the creeks and roaming the hills in the Ozarks near her childhood home of Mansfield, Missouri, as she was singing country and bluegrass favorites with her parents and nine siblings. Saturday nights were family music nights, filled with joy and pleasant harmonies. With her Mom on guitar, she faithfully learned the old favorites that she still loves today.
Tammy grew up to be quiet and conservative. Only around her few close friends did she ever let her hair down. When most people hear her sing, they are surprised that such a melodious sound could come from such a meek and quiet young lady. She has a way of drawing you into her world and not letting you go until the final note is sung and you are comfortably sitting at the feet of Jesus.
Her family's move to Nebraska brought a different geography. On the land her
grandfather had homesteaded, Tammy found great joy in the open spaces and
long rides on her horse, Gypsy. Educational opportunities took her away from the farm in her teens. She graduated from Platte Valley Academy in Shelton,
Nebraska, and then earned a degree in commercial art from Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska.
Desire and encouragement from others have brought her to the front of many auditoriums and stages. At age five, she was singing at her home church. In her late teens, Tammy again sang every Saturday night. But this time she was in front of an audience at the Roca Opry House with a country music show.
Soon God led Tammy to a new geography in the rolling hills of southern Illinois. Here she found a ministry where she would grow, using her music and art skills, as well as developing new skills in television production. Since 1989 she has been part of Three Angels Broadcasting Network, in West Frankfort, Illinois. As part of this worldwide television and radio ministry, her work as a camera operator and floor director contributes to 3ABN's quality programming.
She has illustrated several children's activity and coloring books, published by 3ABN. Being a part of musical programs and specials on 3ABN has quickly
turned her into an International favorite and has allowed her yet another way to share the Gospel. The smile on her face simply represents the love shining
from the occupant of her heart. She has the ability to take familiar songs and
re-work them to a unique blend of instruments and sounds to make them an
audio bouquet for your hearing delight. This is a true gift! A spiritual gift! And she shares it with every listener of her CD and every attendee of her
concerts.
Tammy also sings solo and with a trio at local churches, restaurants, and community gatherings. To feed the artist within her, she enjoys drawing, photography, and attending bluegrass festivals.
After many years of following music's trail, Tammy has allowed music to take the lead. The result is a rare and pure Gospel Bluegrass project, Touch of Grace, released in March 2003. This is a compilation of favorite songs and her God-given talent, lovingly nurtured through the years. Woven into each song are vistas of American life, enduring faith, and the melodies that have long connected Tammy with God and others. The result is an atlas of love, witness, and musical blessings.
